What Is Mahamrityunjaya Jaap?
The Mahamrityunjaya mantra — “the great victory over death” — is a prayer to Lord Shiva as Tryambaka, the three-eyed one. It appears in the Rigveda (7.59.12) and is also known as the Tryambakam mantra.
Jaap is its counted recitation. Devotees undertake Mahamrityunjaya Jaap as a prayer for protection, strength and long life — often during illness, an accident, fear or difficulty in the family.
Mahamrityunjaya mantra Rigveda mein varnit Bhagwan Shiv (Tryambak) ki prarthna hai. Bhakt ke naam se sankalp lekar Pandit Ji Gauri-Ganesh Pujan, Kalash Sthapana aur Shiv Pujan karte hain, sankalp ke anusar nirdharit sankhya mein Mahamrityunjaya mantra ka jaap karte hain, aur ant mein Dashansh Havan aur Aarti ke saath anushthan poorn karte hain.
